Our work

Real sites. Real trades.

Every site on this page is live, and every client on it said yes to being here. This is what we built, how we built it, and what it looks like in a customer’s hand.

Case study 01 · SCALE package

An emergency locksmith, built for the phone.

ESL Locksmiths is John, an emergency locksmith covering south London, from Wandsworth to Blackheath. Most of his work is an emergency, found on a phone, by somebody standing outside their own door. The site had one job: get that stranger to call, fast.

How we built it

Six steps, one site, nothing left to chance.

  1. 01

    Research

We started with how people actually look for a locksmith in south London: the areas they search from and the questions they ask before they call. That became the pages, the areas and the nine answers. The prices are John’s own.

  2. 02

    Design

A premium, full screen design in John’s own navy and orange, built around his own logo. On a desktop, one turn of the wheel moves one full panel, the way the best studio sites behave.

  3. 03

    Build

Twenty pages: a page for every service, an advice section that answers the questions people ask first, and a price panel that shows what a lockout costs at 3pm and at 3am before anybody picks up the phone.

  4. 04

    Wire

A quote form built from questions with the answers already on them, so a customer taps rather than types, and can attach photos of the lock. Every enquiry lands in John’s BEACON dashboard. The Agentic Concierge answers questions around the clock, and WhatsApp is one tap away.

  5. 05

    Check

Nothing goes live until it passes our audit, now 123 automated checks: every page, every link, the structured data and the security headers. The phone view is driven in a real browser to prove nothing overlaps and every button can be hit with a thumb.

  6. 06

    Launch

His own domain, locksmithssouthlondon.co.uk, with the old one forwarding to it. Verified with Google Search Console, measured with Google Analytics behind a consent banner, and every page submitted for indexing on day one.

The phone view

Designed for the hand it is held in.

Most people who need a locksmith find one on a phone, one handed, often in the dark. So the phone view was designed on its own, not squeezed down from the desktop.

ESL Locksmiths on a phone: The first screen
The first screenThe photograph is framed on the key in the lock, and fades into the navy under the headline so the words always have a ground. One call button, nothing floating over it.
ESL Locksmiths on a phone: One place to act
One place to actAs you scroll, one bar rises from the bottom: call, WhatsApp or chat, side by side. It steps aside whenever the page is already offering the call, so you never see two.
ESL Locksmiths on a phone: A menu you can hit
A menu you can hitEvery page, in rows sixty two pixels tall, with the three ways to get hold of John at the bottom of the screen, where the thumb already is.
ESL Locksmiths on a phone: Tap, do not type
Tap, do not typeThe quote form asks questions with the answers already on them. Big targets, and the fields are sized so the phone does not zoom in on you.
ESL Locksmiths on a phone: An answer at 2am
An answer at 2amThe Agentic Concierge opens full screen, knows John’s services, areas and how his pricing works, and replies straight away, day or night.

In John’s words

The team at forge worked really efficiently on this. We love the design and they were constantly in contact with us to get us to production, we’ll definitely keep them as our web services provider going forward.
